The future of international youth work
IJAB – International Youth Service of the Federal Republic of Germany is pleased to announce the second Future Congress, entitled ‘Global Youth in 2020: Education for Sustainable Development - Strategies for International Youth Work’, to take place in Bonn on 26 and 27 April 2010.
The main theme of the 2010 Congress is Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The keynote speaker will be Prof. Dr. Gerhard de Haan, Chairman of the German National Committee of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).
The speeches and six forums, each with a specific theme, will examine perspectives and possible areas of action for international youth work in an ESD context. Among the issues to be discussed are participation and equitable education, intercultural and global learning, healthy upbringing, and international youth education in the digital age.
The Congress, the follow-up event to the first Future Congress in June 2008, serves to continue the initiatives that were launched in 2008 but will also produce fresh impulses.
The Congress is aimed at experts and multipliers in the field of international youth work, youth policy and youth information. It is organised by IJAB – International Youth Service of the Federal Republic of Germany, with financial assistance from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Attendance at the first Future Congress is not a requirement for taking part in this Congress.
